Avec Thurman Ruth, il forme The Jubilators en 1949 puis The Larks. Ce disque reprend ses quatres premiers morceaux en leader pour le label Gotham. Ils démontrent clairement sa dextérité à la guitare en particulier "Somebody change the lock" et "You're a little too slow".

Versatile musician, superb guitarist able to play Blues but also many other genres (Gospel, Doo-Wop, Pop, Rhythm & Blues), he starts at the beginning of the 1940's by singing in Gospel bands. With Thurman Ruth, he formed The Jubilators in 1949 then The Larks.
